My dear grandmother turned 94 this year. I have always dreamed of traveling to Lebanon with her someday and although in her old age her enthusiasm towards the idea was as fervent as mine. The recent political collapse in Lebanon has really hit home for us, not only because the chances of us visiting are mostly collapsed for the time being, but also simply because of the suffering and violence the Lebanese people have undergone.
Coupled with whats going on right now in Egypt, I feel mostly bitter towards the militant Muslim groups such as Hezbollah that seem to be ruining the lives of so many innocent people who are simply trying to live and exist in their homeland. I do not feel hateful towards practicers of Islam, however, these militant Islamic terrorist groups need to be eradicated. Yet there is not much I can do other than be a helpless bitter American and hope that my grandmother and I can be in Lebanon together someday.
